Deliverable D1.1: Understanding Effluents to Support Sustainable Water Treatment
This report will be published as a scientific article. The complete report remains confidential pending publication; this communication presents only its general objectives and scientific scope.
Understanding wastewater is an essential starting point for developing appropriate treatment and resource recovery strategies. Deliverable D1.1, Effluents physico-chemical and microbiological analysis, addresses this foundation within PHYBIOMED Work Package 1.The public summary explains how physical, chemical and microbiological information can provide complementary perspectives on an effluent. Together, these analytical dimensions help define the questions that subsequent pretreatment studies need to address. The report also highlights the importance of sample traceability, consistent analytical methods and careful interpretation. Characterisation can guide treatment research, while suitability for reuse requires further evidence specific to the intended application.D1.1 supports PHYBIOMED’s ambition to connect wastewater management with sustainable resource recovery across the Water–Energy–Food Nexus.
